CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Jacob Robinson Institute for the History of Individual and Collective Rights
Postdoctoral Fellowships
2025/2026

The Jacob Robinson Institute for the History of Individual and Collective Rights promotes high-quality research in the spirit of its namesake, the Jewish jurist of Lithuanian origin Jacob Robinson (1889-1977). His life and work guide the Institute’s academic activities and define its topics:

• Modern Jewish and non-Jewish minority politics, the idea of national self-determination, as well the development of collective rights and their relationship to individual rights.
• Compensation and reparation to Jewish and non-Jewish victims of grave human rights abuses.
• Israel’s statehood, sovereignty, and its relationship with the Jewish and Israeli diaspora.
• Forced displacement, history of human rights and humanitarianism, as well as the interplay between democracy and the rule of law.
The Institute is offering up to two post-doctoral fellowships for the 2025-2026 academic year. Applications are welcome from candidates in any discipline, affiliated with Israeli and non-Israeli universities, whose research aligns with the Institute’s focus. Candidates who have not yet completed their degrees may apply, provided they submit their dissertations by October 1,2025.

Fellows are expected to dedicate their time to research and may not be employed elsewhere. They will receive a stipend of approximately 12,000 NIS per month and an office on Mount Scopus campus, where they will pursue their ongoing research. Fellows are also expected to participate in the Institute's academic activities. Following their research stay at the Institute, fellows are required to submit a manuscript for a peer-reviewed publication.
The fellowships are subject to the Hebrew University's postdoctoral regulations.
