UC Davis Israel Institute Teaching Fellowship
We welcome applications from scholars with research and teaching strengths that connect 1) elements of the modern state of Israel with 2) a second related dimension of the humanities, social sciences, or arts. This broader dimension may include (but is not limited to): environmental studies/sciences; Jews of the non-Western World; ethnic and cultural diversity within Judaism and Israel; music and dramatic arts; legal studies; religion or folklore, including halakha or ritual; agriculture/food studies; gender and intersectional analysis; media and communications; Hebrew, Yiddish, Aramaic, or Judeo-Arabic literature and culture. We especially encourage applications in areas that complement, without duplicating, existing faculty expertise.
Please submit 1) a cover letter of no more than 2 pages focusing on research 2) a teaching statement including Israel-related teaching experience and interests 3) two syllabi, one for an introductory undergraduate Israel-related class and one for a class in the candidate’s area of interest. 4) a CV to jst@ucdavis.edu by JANUARY 12 2020 for full consideration.
