Association for Jewish Studies 2022 Annual Conference
DECEMBER 18–20, 2022
BOSTON, MA
Dear Colleagues,
As Vice President for Program, I am delighted to issue the Call for Papers for the 54th Annual Conference of the Association for Jewish Studies. I hope you will join me at this year’s conference to be held December 18–20, 2022 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. The sessions you propose are the heart of the conference, and we appreciate each of our members’ investment in making the annual conference such a stimulating and engaging gathering.
The AJS conference offers many ways to highlight cutting-edge scholarship, promote scholarly collaboration, network with diverse colleagues, and mentor future scholars. We have over twenty different divisions that reflect the diversity of our scholarship, and this year we will be spotlighting several important themes across all divisions, including our pilot division, “Disability Studies.” Boston may feel like a second home to many of our members who have attended AJS conferences there before, but this year will include opportunities to explore aspects of Jewish Boston that are less familiar but none-the-less fascinating. We know that for many, access to archives has been limited lately, so we are setting up opportunities for you to connect with local resources.
We have updated our submission-related web pages to make this process simpler and clearer. This Call for Papers contains detailed information about types of sessions, the submission process, and subject area divisions. Please see the three-step guide to start your submission process. The deadline for submission of proposals is Thursday, May 5 at 5:00 PM EDT.
