Call for Applications: Jewish Studies Postdoctoral Fellowship
Central European University (Vienna, Austria)
Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Jewish Studies
Application deadline: 15 June 2022
Starting date: September 2022
Duration of the Fellowship: 12 months
The Jewish Studies Program at Central European University Vienna is offering a twelve-month Post-Doctoral Fellowship for research on a subject related to Jewish history, culture, and society in Europe, with a preference for modern and contemporary topics. This postdoctoral position – made possible through a partnership with two family foundations – is an exciting opportunity to join a collegial and vibrant environment, with the freedom and facilities to develop your research and strengthen your position in the academic job market. The specific disciplinary and thematic focus is open, but preference will be given to candidates whose projects speak to the Jewish experience in Central and Eastern Europe.
The primary duty of a Junior Research Fellow is to pursue his/her own research for publication. The Jewish Studies Program will provide access to the rich archival sources on Jewish history and heritage in the Blinken Open Society Archives (in Budapest) and offer academic support and peer mentorship for a Fellow who is developing his/her doctoral dissertation into a monograph-length publication and/or is advancing a new independent research project.
