לבעלי ובעלות תואר דוקטור מצטיינים ומצטיינות

לשנים תשפ”ד-תשפ”ו, 2026-2023

מודעה זו מיועדת לנשים ולגברים כאחד.

• המלגות מיועדות לחוקרים וחוקרות מהארץ ומחו”ל שהוכיחו מצוינוּת יוצאת דופן, עומק ומקוריות, ואשר מחקריהם עשויים להפרות את השיח האקדמי והתרבותי.
• רשאים להגיש מועמדות חוקרים וחוקרות שקיבלו לא מכבר תואר דוקטור, ולא לפני 1 באוקטובר 2018. רשאים להגיש מועמדות גם חוקרים וחוקרות שטרם קיבלו את התואר, ובלבד שיגישו את עבודת הדוקטור עד ה-10 בספטמבר 2022. הזכייה במלגה מותנית באישור התואר עד 1 באפריל 2023.
• מלגאי מנדל עוסקים במחקר בתנאים מיטביים ומלמדים בכל שנה באוניברסיטה העברית (עד 2 שעות שבועיות). ההוראה יכולה להתנהל בשפה האנגלית.
• מלגאי מנדל מקבלים בשנה כ-125,000 ₪ וכן תקציב מחקר.
• המלגה היא לשלוש שנים, החל מראשית אוקטובר 2023. קיימת אפשרות לקבל את המלגה למשך שנה או שנתיים בלבד.
• המלגות מוענקות על בסיס תחרותי וללא העדפה לתחום מסוים במדעי הרוח או היהדות.

תנאי המלגה

1. מלגאי מנדל יקדישו את זמנם למחקר ואינם רשאים לעבוד בשום עבודה נוספת, מלבד הוראה בתוך האוניברסיטה כאמור.
2. המחקר יתנהל בבניין מנדל בקמפוס הר הצופים. לכל מלגאי ומלגאית יוקצה משרד במרכז אשר יהיה מקום עבודתם באוניברסיטה במשך תקופת המלגה, ובו יתקיים פעילותם המחקרית. המלגאים מחויבים לעבוד במרכז מנדל סכוליון ארבעה ימים בשבוע, וגם להשתתף בפעילות המשותפת של המרכז, בדרך כלל אחת לחודש.
3. תקופת המלגה מראשית אוקטובר 2023 עד סוף ספטמבר 2026. בסוף כל שנה (עד 15 ביולי), יגישו המלגאים להנהלת המרכז דו”ח על פעילותם. הדו”חות יתמקדו בהתקדמות המחקרית בתקופה הנסקרת וביעדים המחקריים החדשים לשנה הבאה.
4. הוועדה האקדמית של המרכז מוסמכת להפסיק את המלגה בתום השנה הראשונה או השנייה, אם לא התקיימו התנאים הנ”ל (סעיפים 3-1) לשביעות רצונה.
5. מלגות מנדל כפופות לתקנון האוניברסיטה העברית למלגות פוסט-דוקטורט.

הגשת מועמדות

הגשת מועמדות באמצעות המערכת להגשת מועמדות למלגות באוניברסיטה העברית בלבד. יש להירשם באתר ולפעול לפי ההנחיות. המלגה רשומה תחת מלגות הפקולטה למדעי הרוח. שימו לב! המערכת תיסגר ביום שבת ה-10.9.2022.

על המועמדים להגיש את המסמכים הבאים:

1. טופס בקשה מקוון
2. קורות חיים (עד שני עמודים)
3. רשימת פרסומים
4. מכתב הצהרת כוונות, המסביר את תכניות המחקר שלך לשנתיים הבאות (עד שני עמודים). יש לציין, בין השאר, את הקשר בין תכנית המחקר המוצעת לעבודת הדוקטור שכתבת, וכן כיצד תסייע שהייתך בירושלים במימוש התוכנית.
5. דוגמה לכתיבה אקדמית – מאמר או עבודה אקדמית שכתבת, עד שלושים עמודים.
6. תקציר עבודת הדוקטור, עד שני עמודים.
7. שני מכתבי המלצה. על הממליצים להגישם ישירות עד 10.9.22, בהתאם להנחיות המופיעות באתר המערכת להגשת מועמדות למלגות.

תהליך הבחירה

בראשית ינואר 2023 ייבחרו המועמדים והמועמדות הסופיים. אלה יוזמנו להתראיין על ידי הוועדה האקדמית של המרכז באמצעות אפליקציית זום בימי רביעי וחמישי, 4-5.1.23.

Call for Applications for

Mandel Postdoctoral Fellowships

in the Humanities and Jewish Studies (2023–2026)

• The Mandel Fellowships are intended for scholars, from Israel and abroad, who have shown exceptional excellence and originality, and whose research contributes significantly to academic scholarship and cultural discourse.
• Applications will be accepted from candidates who completed their doctoral degrees no earlier than October 1, 2018.* Candidates who have not yet completed their degrees may apply if they will have submitted their dissertations by September 10, 2022. If awarded the fellowship, their acceptance will be conditional upon approval of their doctoral degrees by April 1, 2023.
• Mandel Scholars engage in research in optimal conditions and teach at HUJI (up to 2 hours per week). Teaching in English is possible.
• Mandel Scholars receive approximately 125,000 NIS per year in addition to a research budget.
• The fellowship is for three years, beginning October 1, 2023. It is possible to receive the fellowship for only one or two years.
• Scholars are selected on a competitive basis with no preference for a specific field of study in the humanities or Jewish studies.

Terms of the Fellowship

1. Mandel Scholars will devote their time to research and may not be employed elsewhere, apart from teaching at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
2. Mandel Scholars receive an office in the Mandel Building on Mount Scopus, where they are to carry out their ongoing research at least four days a week. Scholars also engage in the Center’s joint activities, approximately once a month.
3. The fellowship period is October 1, 2023 – September 30, 2026. Mandel scholars must submit reports on their research at the end of each academic year (by July 15). These reports should focus on their research during the period reviewed and on their academic goals for the next period.
4. The Center’s academic committee is authorized to terminate a fellowship at the end of the first or second year, if the aforementioned terms (sections 1-3) are not met.
5. The Fellowship is subject to the Hebrew University’s postdoctoral regulations.

Submission Procedure

Applications are to be submitted via the Humanities section of Hebrew University’s Scholarship System according to the instructions provided there. Please note! The system will close on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at midnight.

Applicants must submit:

1. Online application form
2. Curriculum vitae – up to two pages
3. List of publications
4. Statement of purpose – Please describe (in up to two pages) your research goals for the next couple of years. In your statement, please explain, inter alia, the relationship of your project to your doctoral work and whether it is feasible to pursue this study in Jerusalem.
5. Academic writing – Please upload an academic publication or writing sample (up to thirty pages long).
6. Dissertation abstract (up to two pages long).
7. Two letters of recommendation – Please ask two scholars who know you and your work to submit letters of recommendation, by the Sept. 10 deadline, according to the guidelines and instructions supplied by the Scholarship System.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be notified at the beginning of December. Interviews for potential candidates will be held via Zoom on January 4-5, 2023.
