15-17 November 2022, Opening Night: 17:00, Ariel University
“The Holocaust and Genocide in the 21st Century: A Grievous Yet Never Ending Story” is the inaugural conference of Ariel University Center for the Research and Study of Genocide. This international conference explores the connections, the differences and similarities between the Holocaust and ongoing genocides. It deals with the key questions in the research of the Holocaust and genocide: the legal definition of genocide and the debates around it; the predominance of the Holocaust in genocide research and how it is similar and different from the research of other genocide cases; genocide cases in modern era and ongoing genocides (in Turkey, Rwanda, Yugoslavia, Myanmar and China); the prevailing phenomenon of antisemitism and how it can be fought by education, law and other disciplines; post-Holocaust discourse; the Holocaust and genocide in art and the media.
We welcome you to two and a half days of fruitful and thought – provoking discussion at Ariel University with our distinguished scholars and researchers in the field of genocide studies.
