Keynote Speaker: Professor Nicola Whyte, Co-Director of the Centre for Environmental Arts and Humanities. University of Exeter
This conference will offer a broad perspective on women and the environment over time.
Themes could include women’s historical involvement in:
- Environmental and natural sciences
- Conservation and eco-activism by individuals and in campaigning organisations seeking to protect nature and biodiversity.
- Weather forecasting and climate change
- Rescue and recovery work following environmental events such as floods, earthquakes, volcanoes and hurricanes
- Land management practices e.g. enclosures
- Gardens and allotments,
- Parks and garden cities
- Farming, gardening and agricultural work
- Botanical and zoological films, photography and illustration
