קול קורא // בית הספר הרביעי למדעי הרוח: פרקטיקות טקסטואליות בין כתבי יד לדפוס, 1400-1700 [ירושלים 01/19] דדליין=15.10.18

המכון הישראלי ללימודים מתקדמים בשיתוף הספרייה הלאומית מזמינים תלמידי ותלמידות מוסמך ודוקטורט להגיש מועמדות לבית הספר הרביעי למדעי הרוח בנושא תולדות הספר העברי והאירופאי, בכתב יד ובדפוס, בימי הביניים המאוחרים והעת החדשה המוקדמת (1400-1700). מומחים מובילים בתחום מכל העולם ינחו את חמשת ימי הקורס האינטנסיבי לשם חקירה משותפת של פרקטיקות טקסטואליות סביב מחזור החיים של החפצים המכונים ׳ספרים׳ (אך בקורס לא נגביל עצמנו רק לפורמט הקודקס, שהפך היום למילה נרדפת לספר). יחד נבחן כיצד טקסטים מתחברים, נכתבים, מועתקים, מותקנים לדפוס, מופצים, נקראים, מסומנים ומוצאים את דרכם לאוספים שונים. באמצעות התמקדות בהיבטים החומריים של הטקסט ובפרקטיקות יצירתו אנחנו מקווים להאיר נקודות מפגש, דמיון ושוני בין מסורות ותרבויות שלרוב נלמדות בנפרד. אנחנו שואפים ללמידה משותפת מכל משתתפי בית הספר אשר תחומי מחקרם הן תרבויות המלומדים והספרויות בלטינית, בעברית ובשפות וורנקולריות אחרות. חמשת ימי הקורס כוללים סמינרים, הרצאות, סדנאות מעשיות, עבודה עם חומרי מקור, ביקורים בספריות ובאוספים שונים ומעל לכל דיונים מסוגים שונים, הן פורמאליים עם חומר קריאה שהוכן מראש, והן לא-פורמליים על כוס קפה וארוחת ערב.

בית הספר מנוהל על ידי אנתוני גרפטון (פרינסטון); מאורגן על ידי אן בלייר (הרווארד), דרור ורמן (העברית) ורעי שרירא (העברית); ומונחה על ידי איילת אבן-עזרא (העברית), מלאכי בית-אריה (העברית), אדוארדו ברביארי (האוניברסיטה הקתולית של מילאנו), יוסף הקר (העברית), מיכה ירושלמי (EPHE/PSL, Paris), פיטר סטליבראס (פנסילבניה), יואל פינקלמן (הספרייה הלאומית), אלחנן ריינר (תל אביב, הספרייה הלאומית) ואדם שייר (פיטסבורג).

This five-day winterschool at the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies brings together specialists of books in Hebrew and European languages from the late medieval and early modern periods. We will study textual practices through the lifecycle of the various physical objects we call books for convenience (though they may take other forms than the codex that we associate with books today). In particular we will examine how texts were composed and scribed, prepared for publication and distributed (in manuscript or in print), and read and annotated. By focusing on materiality and practice we wish to explore points of contact and difference between traditions and cultures that are often studied as separate. We are eager to learn from one another and from the students who join us across our various areas of specialization which include learned cultures in Latin and Hebrew, various vernacular European literatures and cultures, and Jewish books of the medieval and early modern periods, in manuscript and print. We are planning five full days of activities in different formats including visits to special collections in nearby libraries, lectures, hands-on workshops and roundtables, and above all both moderated and informal discussions of many kinds, including of pre-circulated materials which everyone will read in advance.
