Aigner-Rollett-Guest Professor for Women’s and Gender Studies
(temporary contract; for the summer semester 2019: 01.03.2019 – 30.06.2019)
The guest professor will add gender aspects to the teaching offered by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities on the one hand and contribute to the interdisciplinary Master’s Program for Gender Studies (http://koordination-gender.uni-graz.at/en/gender-studies/) of the Karl-Franzens-University of Graz on the other hand.
Focus and expected contributions in the areas research and teaching:
The lectures in the framework of the guest professorship will deal with gender analyses in cultural anthropology/european ethnology, focusing ideally more than one of the following topics: everyday culture, masculinity, migration, anthropology of knowledge.
The Aigner-Rollett-Guest Professorship comprises a teaching load of 6 hours per week in the area of gender studies/gender research with the focus mentioned above. Two of these hours are to be held in form of a general overview lecture in the area mentioned above. Lectures can be delivered in German or English. Cooperation in the Doctoral Program Gender Studies is also expected.
A successful candidate will have demonstrated prior engagement in gender studies and research documented by publications and teaching experience in the areas mentioned above.
Employment requirements
- A position-related adequate university qualification (degree in cultural anthropology/european ethnology expected)
- Outstanding scientific qualification in research and teaching in the area specified above
- Educational and didactical aptitude
- Leadership qualities, expertise in the field of gender mainstreaming
- Area specific professional international experience
