M. Louise Carpenter Gloeckner, M.D. Summer Research Fellowship
The M. Louise Carpenter Gloeckner, M.D. Summer Research Fellowship is offered annually by the Legacy Center at Drexel University College of Medicine. A $4,000 award is offered to one applicant for self-directed research using the Center’s Women in Medicine Collection. Research may begin on or after June 1 and may extend up to 6 weeks. The deadline this year is April 1, 2020.
This award was established in memory of M. Louise Carpenter Gloeckner, M.D. by her husband Frederick Gloeckner in recognition of her key leadership role in the medical profession. This is a competitive annual award open to scholars, students and general researchers.
In addition to materials related to the history of the Woman’s Medical College/Medical College of Pennsylvania, the collections have particular strengths in the history of women in medicine, nursing, medical missionaries, the American Medical Women’s Association, American Women’s Hospital Service, and other women in medicine organizations. The majority of the collections fall within the period 1850 to the present.
