Research Assistant (PostDoc)
The position holder will work on a particular aspect of their choice within the scope of the bi-national project “Jewish Pimps, Prostitutes, and Campaigners in a transnational German and British Context, 1870-1940”.
- Publication of research findings as a monograph and in journals (the position is suitable for anyone wishing to further their academic qualifications)
- Presentation of research findings at (inter)national conferences and symposia
- Active involvement in organizing and leading academic and public programs (colloquia, workshops, conferences, events with external cooperation partners, etc.)
- Close collaboration with the project leader and UK project partners at Queen Mary University
Requirements:
- Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) and PhD in history (focusing on 19th/20th century)
- Knowledge of languages relevant to the project, such as an East European language (Polish, Russian, Yiddish) or Hebrew
- A deeper understanding of Jewish history, the history of Antisemitism and gender history demonstrated by relevant publications is desirable
- Competence in the use of MS applications and literature databases
- Excellent knowledge of the German and international archive landscape and structures as well as outstanding research skills within the areas of Jewish history, the history of Antisemitism and gender history
- Excellent German and English skills
- The position requires excellent communication and team skills as well as outstanding subject expertise
