Conference on Domestic Cats in Literature
Submissions are invited for a scholarly conference on domestic cats in literature to be hosted online 11-12 June 2021 by the Troy University Department of English. Papers may address any aspect of the subject, including–but not limited to–the following:
- Cats as characters, symbols, companions, pets, inspiration, environmental pests, guides, thieves, mystical creatures, gods
- Cats and mystery, aesthetics, creativity, abstraction, contemplation, parody, comedy, modernism, myth, the supernatural
- Cats in science fiction, comics, film, young-adult literature, children’s literature
- Cats in the works of specific authors such as T. S. Eliot, J. K. Rowling, Lewis Carroll, Edgar Poe, Rudyard Kipling, Mikhail Bulgakov, Stephen King, and others.
