Research fellow Positions at the department of Landscape Architecture.
The Department of Landscape Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning, The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, invites applications for part time (20%) research fellow position focusing on strengthening collaboration between academic research and practical knowledge in landscape design and planning and related areas. Research topics include, but are not limited to, materials and technologies in landscape architecture, environmental policy, landscape and urban ecology and landscape heritage management. The position commences in October 2022 for a period of up to three years.
Qualifications:
• Proven professional or academic excellence.
• Main employment in public/private sectors in Landscape Architecture or related fields, such as research institutions, landscape architecture firms, senior positions in the public sector, government ministries, or NGOs.
• Publication record in professional or academic venues (in English and/or Hebrew).
• Experience in grant writing (research or other) is an advantage.
• Research experience in Landscape Architecture or related fields is an advantage.
• Proven ability to manage and organize workshops and conferences is an advantage.
Research fellows will be eligible to utilize the research facilities of the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning to promote their researחוקch. This includes research labs, an institutional affiliation and support to apply for grants, as well as graduate student research assistants and administrative support. Fellows are allowed to co-supervise theses and dissertations that support their research endeavor. This position is highly relevant for those who would like to conduct research and lead research efforts connecting academia and practice in Landscape Architecture and related fields.
Research fellows are expected to publish in academic journals and professional publications, participate and lead workshops and conferences on topics related to Landscape Architecture. They are also expected to submit and obtain research funding from private or public foundations during their fellowship term to support their research. Collaboration with faculty members and/or with industry and government officials is desired. The position will consist of one day a week at the Technion.
Salary and compensation will be comparable with Israeli University standards and includes various additional benefits such as travel funds and initial research seed money. The appointment is for a period of up to three years with the possibility of renewal considering research performance. Academic rank will be determined in accordance with the candidate’s record. Successful candidates who would be interested in teaching in addition to their research fellow position, may be able to do so.
