Dear friends and colleagues,
I’d very much appreciate it if you’d circulate this call, for a three year Research Fellowship at Pembroke College Cambridge. Do get in touch if you have questions –
Many thanks
Pembroke College Cambridge
ABDULLAH AL-MUBARAK RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN ISLAMIC AND MIDDLE EASTERN STUDIES
The College hopes to elect to a three-year ABDULLAH AL-MUBARAK RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN ISLAMIC AND MIDDLE EASTERN STUDIES, to commence on 1 October 2023. Candidates should have recently completed or be about to complete a doctoral degree. The College welcomes applications from scholars with research interests in any aspect of Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies. The tenure of the Fellowship will be for three years. The holder will be expected to do a limited amount of teaching for the College, but would require the permission of the Governing Body to undertake other paid work. The stipend will be in the range of £25,000 to £28,000, depending on whether the successful candidate has been awarded a Ph.D. Applications are welcomed from outstandingly able researchers who have completed a doctoral degree since 1 October 2021 or who will have completed their doctoral studies by 1 October 2023; they will be expected to present a detailed plan for the postdoctoral research they wish to undertake during their Fellowship.
Research Fellows are offered subsidized accommodation, in college if unaccompanied, in college-owned flats or houses if partnered; where accommodation is not required the Abdullah Al-Mubarak Research Fellow will be offered a study in College. Research Fellows like every Fellow of the College, are members of the Governing Body, and enjoy a range of benefits and privileges as well as responsibilities. These include seven free meals per week at High Table, access to a Fellows’ Research Fund, and eligibility to apply for support for conferences or workshops Fellows organize in Cambridge.
Applications should be made online at https://app.casc.cam.ac.uk/
Informal enquiries can be made to the Master’s PA, Debbie Brown, at masterspa@pem.cam.ac.uk
