Leibniz Summer Fellowships in the field of “German and/or European (including Eastern European) History in the 20th century”.
The Leibniz-Zentrum für Zeithistorische Forschung Potsdam / Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam (ZZF) is pleased to invite applications for three Leibniz Summer Fellowships in the field of “German and/or European (including Eastern European) History in the 20th century”.
These two-months fellowships provide an opportunity to pursue individual research in Germany while participating in the academic life of one of Germany’s major historical research centres.
Founded in 1992, the ZZF is interested in all aspects of contemporary European History and comprises currently five research departments “Communism and Society”, “Knowledge, Economy, Politics”, “Regimes of the Social Sphere”, “Contemporary History in the Age of Media and Information” and “Globalizations in a Divided World”. The ZZF library holds approx. 100,000 items and subscribes to more than 100 periodicals.
We expect applicants to be of post-doctoral standing and show evidence of an outstanding academic record. Fellows are free to pursue research related to their own individual interests, yet applicants whose interests relate to one or more of the research departments of the ZZF will be preferred. Successful candidates will be assigned to one of the institute’s departments, offered participation in departmental activities and asked to present their project as part of the institute’s research seminar.
The Leibniz Summer Fellowship carries a monthly grant of 3,000 €. The funding is expected to cover all living and travelling expenses, including appropriate insurance. Fellows are asked to reside in Berlin or Potsdam for two consecutive months between April and October 2024. The ZZF will provide office space, computer access and other relevant facilities.
The application deadline is November 30, 2023. Decisions will be announced no later than December 31, 2023. Applications are accepted in English or German and must include
