Assistant Professorship (tenure-track) in Political Science with a specialty in Political Sociology
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Basel invites applications for an Assistant Professorship (tenure-track) in Political Science with a specialty in Political Sociology, starting 1 February 2019.
Your position
This assistant professorship will contribute to the further establishment of the university’s recently founded Political Science program through cooperation with the Sociology program and the development of collaboration within the Social Science Department as a whole. The successful candidate will be responsible for an equal amount of teaching and student supervision in both disciplines. The position entails a teaching commitment of four hours per week. The successful candidate is also expected to perform her/his teaching duties with commitment and engagement, supervise doctoral candidates, acquire third-party funding, and participate in university administration.

Candidates for this interdisciplinary professorship should be able to perform teaching and research duties in both Political Science and Sociology and to practice a wide range of theoretical and methodological approaches. For the academic focus of this position, expertise and research achievements in at least one of the following areas are expected: comparative political economy; democracy and political behavior; digitalization. Applicants should have an outstanding publication record as well as post-doctoral teaching and research experience.
