Associate Professor in Premodern History
A permanent position of Associate Professor of Premodern Eurasian History is available at the Department of Archaeology, Conservation and History, University of Oslo.
The holder of the position must have research competence in premodern world history, delimited geographically from the Mediterranean to Central and South Asia and chronologically from c. 3000 BC to c. 1500 AD. It is expected that the holder of the position shall contribute to a closer collaboration between the fields of classical archaeology and ancient history at the Department, and he or she must be able to teach undergraduates within both disciplines.
The successful candidate is expected to initiate and lead research, supervise PhD candidates, participate in teaching and in exam setting and assessment at all levels, and to carry out administrative duties in accordance with the needs of the Department.
The holder of the position is expected to be ready to teach on a broad range thematically as well as chronologically and geographically, if need be also outside the field specified in the announcement.
