Professor (f/m) of History of Philosophy
The Institute of Philosophy at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is seeking to appoint a
Professor (f/m) of History of Philosophy pursuant to § 98 of the University Act (UG)
(40 hours per week; permanent employment according to the Austrian Law on Salaried Employment (AngG); expected starting date October 1st 2019 )
The successful candidate for the full professorship is expected to take over the scientific supervision of the entire field of the history of western philosophy in teaching and research. Research core areas are to be in the field of ancient and/or early modern philosophy (at least one of the two areas has to be demonstrably represented in research, teaching, however, should attend to both areas). The successful candidate should be able to collaborate productively with members of other research facilities at the University of Graz, especially with respect to the University’s archival holdings in philosophy (Brentano Archive, Meinong Institute). In addition to locally already existing co-operationes, co-operative activities should be maintained and expanded internationally, so as to enhance the visibility of the Institute of Philosophy, both in the public sphere and in the scientific community. The successful candidate is expected to develop and implement research projects that help enhance the profile of the University of Graz as a research institution.
Requirements for employment
- Completion of an appropriate university degree at a university in Austria or abroad
- Habilitation or equivalent qualification in History of Philosophy
- Excellent scientific qualification in research and teaching for the relevant subject (relative to academic age)
- Work experience abroad after Master`s degree
- Competence in subject-specific project acquisition
- Management and leadership experience
- Gender mainstreaming competence
