UNIVERSITY LECTURER IN SOCIAL AND PUBLIC POLICY
The Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for the position of
UNIVERSITY LECTURER IN SOCIAL AND PUBLIC POLICY
for a fixed-term period from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2021.
The position is in the discipline of social and public policy, which has five professorships (two in social policy, social gerontology, disability studies, and environmental policy), and two university lectureships in social and public policy. In addition, more than ten researchers and doctoral students work in the discipline.
The duties of the university lecturer will include providing teaching in accordance with the degree requirements, supervising and examining theses and dissertations, and conducting research in the field. The appointee will be responsible for the urban studies programme and will provide teaching in it. He or she will also contribute to other teaching in social and public policy. Because the appointee will primarily teach in the urban studies programme, which features English as the language of teaching, as well as in the Master’s Programme in Contemporary Societies and the Master’s Programme in Environmental Change and Global Sustainability, the appointee must have good proficiency in English. Proficiency in Finnish and/or Swedish is considered an asset.
According to the Regulations of the University of Helsinki, holders of university lectureships are required to possess an applicable doctoral degree, to have the ability to provide high quality research-based teaching and to supervise theses and dissertations.
