Visiting Research Scholar Fellowships
Researchers from across the country and around the world are invited to apply for Beinecke Visiting Scholar Fellowships. These fellowships support scholars pursuing research in the Beinecke collections. Fellowships are offered for one to two months or for an entire semester and must be taken up between September and May. Students enrolled in degree programs and scholars residing within 100 miles of New Haven are ineligible. Degrees must be conferred by the application deadline.

The Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library offers generous fellowships to support visiting scholars pursuing research in its collections. Students enrolled in degree programs and scholars residing within 100 miles of New Haven are ineligible. The fellowships pay for travel to and from New Haven and a living allowance of $4,000 per month, and are designed to provide access to the library for scholars who live outside the greater New Haven area. Fellowships must be taken up between September 1, 2019 and May 31, 2020. Recipients are expected to be in residence during the period of their award and are encouraged to participate in the activities of Yale University. Degrees must be conferred by the application deadline.
Short-term Visiting Research Fellowships are intended to support scholarly research within Beinecke collections. Granted for one or two months, fellowships must be taken up between September 1 and May 31. The fellowships pay for travel costs to and from New Haven and a living allowance of $4,000 per month.
(NEW!) Semester-long Visiting Research Fellowships are intended to support scholarly research within the Beinecke collections for the duration of an academic semester. The fellowships pay for travel costs to and from New Haven and a living allowance of $20,000.
