The Pennsylvania State University, Department of History invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track position in Early Modern European history, 1400-1800, to complement existing strengths. Historians of Mediterranean history are especially encouraged to apply. The appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor, depending upon qualifications, and will begin in August 2019. The successful applicant should be able to enhance the graduate and undergraduate curricula, demonstrate an active research agenda, and be able to contribute immediately to both graduate and undergraduate teaching in the department. Candidate must have a Ph.D. in hand at date of appointment. Interested candidates must apply online, and should submit as attachments a curriculum vita, a letter of application that describes current and future research, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and the names and contact information of three references. Applications may also include up to three offprints or unpublished papers or chapters. Review of applications will begin on December 15 and continue until the position is filled.
