Technology, Society and the Missing “K”: Knowing & Acting in a Digital World
תקציר:
The Digital world, Cyberspace and Cyberculture have changed the way we experience and the world. The main stream of the academic reflection and political action has been placed especially on the Internet and Digital Technologies. The talk will claim that Information, Communication and Knowledge must be taken and taken as a threefold totality, both into scientific research, and into the digital policy design confronting the overwhelming academic visibility and attention given to the relationship between Information and Communication in digital Technologies. Confronting the hard inequalities experienced from the “Global South” we need to reconceptualize them from a more complex point of view, because a mutilated conception of the world, always supports (and even stimulates) a mutilating action on the very (virtual & “real”) world. I propose the conceptualization of Cybercultur@ as a way to increase the discussion and to include that “third dimension” of distributed knowledge and ignorance underlying these global issues.
