Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to conduct research of the highest quality in a subject relevant to the work of the Keeling Centre for Ancient Philosophy, as well as some teaching and administrative duties. The Fellowship offers early career researchers the opportunity to develop their research within one of the world’s leading universities.
The successful candidate will be required to perform the following duties to the satisfaction of the Director of the Keeling Centre for Ancient Philosophy and the Department of Philosophy at UCL:
Engage in research in ancient philosophy leading to the publication of articles in peer-reviewed journals, or equivalent outputs in other forms.
Teach one module per academic year (in the first year this will be PHIL0001 Ancient Philosophy, and in following years an upper level undergraduate module of the post-holder’s choice).
Supervise some student dissertations and theses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Regularly attend the weekly Greek reading group co-convened with Kings College London.
Carry out the necessary administrative duties to support all of the above.
The post is fixed-term for two and a half years in the first instance, commencing from 1 September 2019.
Key Requirements
The Fellowship is open to candidates who hold a PhD in Ancient Philosophy, or a suitably related field.
