8th International Student Workshop in Jewish Studies
Kurt and Ursula Schubert Centre of Jewish Studies at Palacký University Olomouc and Prague Centre for Jewish Studies, Faculty of Arts, Charles University, now invite applications for 8th international student workshop “Judaism and Jewish Studies in the Modern World: The Student Voice” which will be held at the Kurt and Ursula Schubert Centre of Jewish Studies on 20–22 October 2019.
The aim of the workshop is to bring together graduate and excellent undergraduate students of Jewish studies from different universities and countries, to give them an opportunity to present their work and to develop their debating skills. Participants are expected to give a 20–25 minute paper presenting their research. The paper will be followed by a comment from a senior scholar and open discussion. The presentations will be circulated in advance and may be based on expanded seminar papers, theses or their drafts.
This year we particularly encourage presentations touching on different aspects of Jewish spaces, both physical and metaphorical, and methodologies employed to study them.
Keynote Speaker of the event will be prof. Marcin Wodziński (University of Wrocław).
Participation in the workshop is free of charge. Accommodation in student dormitories will be provided by the organizers. A limited number of travel stipends is available. The number of participants is limited; candidates will be selected on a competitive basis.
The workshop will be held in English.
