Jacobitism and War
The Jacobite Studies (JST) announces a conference on “Jacobitism and War”, to be held in Florence, Italy, on 22-24 May 2020.
The JST invites papers and panel proposals connecting the themes of Jacobitism, anti-Jacobitism or fear of Jacobitism with diplomatic, military and naval history in Europe and beyond, from the Revolution of 1688 to the end of the 18th century. The JST also welcomes proposals that deal with any aspect of the threat and actuality of Jacobite rebellion in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, as well as proposals that focus on the Jacobites’ impact on British grand strategy and warfighting. Topics in art history, gender history, court studies or literary and cultural studies that bear on any of these topics are particularly encouraged.
