קול קורא להגשת מועמדויות לפוסט-דוקטורטים בתחומי מדעי הרוח, משפטים ומינהל עסקים:
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Queen Mary University of London welcomes applications from outstanding postdoctoral scholars to the 2019-2020 round of The British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Research across the Faculty is focused on the frontiers of disciplinary and inter-disciplinary approaches and debates, and the Faculty contributed strongly to Queen Mary University of London’s overall achievement of a top ten position for research quality in REF 2014 amongst multi-submission and multi-faculty universities in the UK.
The British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships provide career development opportunities for those who are at a relatively early stage of their academic careers, and who have a proven record of research excellence. The expectation is that Fellows should undertake a significant piece of publishable work during their tenure and would contribute to the intellectual life and teaching programmes of the host School and the Faculty.
Our diverse community of postdoctoral award holders form an important part of the dynamic research culture across the Faculty. Fellows will become part of the Faculty’s Early Career Researchers (ECRs) Network, involving opportunities to attend research related workshops to enhance career development and meet other ECRs. Moreover, the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences (IHSS) is home to a dynamic group of visiting fellows (both junior and senior), whose research interests may align with annual thematic programmes. This academic year’s foci are on Mobility, Democracy, Work and Medical Humanities.
Each of the eight academic schools (School of Business and Management, School of Economics and Finance, School of English and Drama, School of Geography, School of History, School of Languages, Linguistics and Film, School of Law and School of Politics and International Relations) host a wide range of department-based and interdisciplinary seminars and offer links with the a variety of London-based museums, charities, NGOs, cultural and business institutions.
We would be delighted to hear from outstanding postdoctoral candidates who are considering applying to the scheme and whose research interests align with those of our academic Schools.
Initial enquiries and EOIs should be directed to Research Managers in the respective Schools or to members of staff closest to your research interests (see https://www.qmul.ac.uk/media/qmul/ihss/images-for-intranet/School-Research-Managers.pdf) and include the following:
– CV
– 100 word abstract
– 2 page (max) outline of the proposed research project, including intended publication outputs, and details of impact plans/activities
– Identification of a potential mentor
Each School would be happy to offer support and feedback in preparing applications. Candidates should demonstrate a record of publications appropriate to the stage of their career.
Individuals who wish to apply for the scheme must first be selected by each academic School and nominations will be considered via an internal selection process. Therefore, applications for the scheme must be submitted by 12pm on Monday 16 September to respective Research Managers (https://www.qmul.ac.uk/media/qmul/ihss/images-for-intranet/School-Research-Managers.pdf). The call deadline is 16 October 2019.
