Tenure Track Position in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology seeks to fill a tenure track position beginning October 2020.
The position is open to highly qualified sociologists who apply advanced quantitative methods in the areas of social stratification, immigration, labor market, or economic sociology. Outstanding scholars in the disciplines of sociology (outside of the above fields), anthropology and demography are also invited to apply.
Please note: Applicants with strong background in European Studies are also encouraged to apply for a joint appointment with the European Forum.
The ideal candidate will have a clear and substantial scholarly agenda and demonstrate an ability to publish innovative and high-quality research in top-tier journals or books with notable publishing houses. Applicants with insufficient publications may be encouraged to defer their candidacy and apply for a post-doctoral fellowship with the department (http://ldft.huji.ac.il/; http://buberfellows.huji.ac.il/).
Applicants should also note that while we, like other social science departments at our university, invite international scholars to join our faculty, the principal, even if not mandatory, language of instruction remains Hebrew.
Applicants should submit a statement of academic biography, CV, three published or ready-for-publication items, and at least three letters of recommendation. Application materials should be submitted online directly to the search committee, at the following address: https://ttp.ekmd.huji.ac.il/
Applications should be submitted as soon as possible and no later than October 31th, 2019. We expect to notify candidates if they have the endorsement of the department by late January 2020. Final university approval of appointments is expected by March 2020.
